From the canvas painted each morning by the sunrise to the amazing talent displayed throughout the Carmel Arts & Design district, beauty is around every corner. Mother Nature is the unprecedented artist, sculptor, painter and designer who offers us unique art – for free. But, we can’t go around carrying unusual trees over our shoulders. So, what do we do when we want to share art – inexpensively?
Express Yourself through Wearable Art
Jewelry gives you the opportunity to become walking art. When you wear your favorite piece you show off its beauty and the talent of the jewelry maker. You also make a personal statement – you say to the world – “Hey, I’m unique.” Most art is very static—you purchase a piece and it sits on a shelf or hangs on a wall—but jewelry is a very dynamic form of art. Your experience with the piece can change every time you wear it, depending on how you mix and match it with clothing and other jewelry.
Jewelry and art doesn’t have to be expensive. Affordable pieces can be integrated into your everyday attire, and those select, more expensive pieces can be brought out when you need to look and feel your best. No matter your budget, it is likely you can purchase multiple pieces of jewelry for the same price as a sculpture or painting. And, as the price of precious metals continues to climb, your jewelry collection can become very valuable.
Jewelry also lets you show the world your passion for art. Sculptures and paintings are more private. These pieces decorate your home or office and are only shown to the select few. Jewelry is more public. The way you accessorize, mixing and matching your favorite jewelry pieces, makes a statement to the world about who you are. Jewelry also gives you more options. Depending on your mood – you can wear jewelry that mimics your mood.
These are just some of the reasons that jewelry is the medium I choose to express myself. No matter how you choose to celebrate art, I hope that you can always find beauty in the world around you.
