Finding inspiration in our lives motivates us to reach for success (whatever success may look like for you). It motivates us to create something beautiful – whether that something is a beautiful family, a beautiful career or beautiful handcrafted jewelry. I am extremely thankful that I have an outlet to share my inspiration and passion for making unique pieces of jewelry. I acknowledge how truly rare it is to discover a path where an intended hobby and a defined career collide.
What is Lampworking?
Lampworking is a type of glasswork that uses a gas and oxygen fueled torch to melt colored glass rods. It has been a passion of mine for the past few years. The glass is formed by using special tools and deliberate hand motions. The first day I worked with borosilicate glass was the first time I participated in a lampworking class. I registered for one reason – to cross off “using a torch to melt glass” from my bucket list. I had no idea the magic I would find.
Every time I turn on my torch and grab my borosilicate glass rods I can’t wait to see what the flame and the glass will create. The colors of the glass are usually only revealed to me after annealing in a kiln for 6 to 10 hours. You just never know what you are going to get. Each piece begins with inspiration; each piece ends as art. Now, that’s magic!
